15-mile walk and more thanks

Yesterday I did a 15-mile walk, starting at 6 AM (on a Saturday too - UGH!) from Carson Beach in South Boston. It was supposed to be 18 miles total but despite the tape job, my cranky right ankle protested enough that I stopped at 15 miles.

Thanks to the following new donors since my last post:
  • Chuck Hale from MassHighway;
  • Ray Hebert from HSH;
  • Guy Busa from HSH; and
  • Adrien Lane from HSH.

My total raised is around $2,900. Please keep those donations coming - I'd like to beat last year's total. Together, Kate and I have raised $5,612. =-D

Thanks to everyone!

I hope to have the route to post soon. more news later on this KBS station.

Will Walk for Boobs team training

Kate and I walked about 8 miles today around Boston. It was a gorgeous day to be walking around Boston!

My right ankle is giving me the same tendinitis problems I had during the walk last year. I'm going to have to teach myself how to tape it like the trainer did at the walk. That tape job totally saved me!

Thanks to Adel Foz from Stantec for his donation! My total to date is $2,591. Kate has reached her required goal of $2,200, too ($2,221 to be exact)! Keep those donations coming! We appreciate all the support.

In other news, the walk will be starting at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, MA, and ending at U-Mass Boston. Once I know the routes for each day, I'll post them here. Watch this space for more info about cheering locations.

Friday Friday Friday...more walking

i actually woke up before my alarm went off this morning, got up, and walked 3 miles before work. it was another beautiful morning along the Charles River. i tried to take a photo of Beacon Hill from the Longfellow Bridge, but alas, I fail operating my camera phone, so no photo. pity because it was a really spectacular sight.

thanks to Sarah Kurpiel of HSH, who donated to both mine and Kate's walks. =-D

keep those donations rolling (and the money came rolling in...)!

happy Friday!

quick lunchtime update

I walked 2.5 miles this morning before work. It was a beautiful morning for a walk by the river, through the public garden, etc.

You'd never know it was sunny this morning by looking out the window now - gloomy and drizzling. =(

Thanks to Arnie Bloch from HSH for his donation to my walk.

Thanks also to Gretchen Von Grossmann of Von Grossmann & Company and Dan Dulaski of Traffic Solutions for donating to my teammate Kate's walk. If there are others who donated to Kate and I didn't see your names on her honor roll, thanks to you too.

Keep those donations coming, and we'll keep walking!

training and fundraising updates

I'm over my minimum now, nearly $2,500 and counting!

Thanks to the following new donors since my last post:

  • Neil Boudreau, State Traffic Engineer, MassHighway;
  • Wood Hill Middle School, Andover, MA (and Mr. Brodeur's students); and
  • Ocean State Signal Company in Smithfield, RI.

Dad and Rose have been here for the last 2 weeks, so not much training has been happening. Last weekend, we poured 900 lbs. of concrete into my front steps to replace a couple that were cracked. I guess the labor of mixing and pouring concrete falls into the "cross training" category. I walked 4 miles yesterday around downtown and the Back Bay. This weekend, I'll log in some more miles.

In other news, my friend Kate Monsalvatge and I have formed team Will Walk for Boobs. Kate still needs to raise a little under $1,000, so if you are considering donating, please consider donating to her and helping our team. You can search her name to get to her personal page or search for team Will Walk for Boobs. Keep those donations coming! We appreciate the support!

an update

Not much walking this week beyond Monday evening. Tuesday and Thursday were vb nights, and Wednesday night I attended a charity event. Today, if the weather holds, I will go for a walk 3-5 miles after I finish some yard work, like installing my rain barrels now that (hopefully!) winter is over.

thanks to Jim Danila, Michelle Langone and Tony DiSarcina of HSH as well as Sandy Sailer of A.G. Edwards, for their donations. Total donations stand at $896 dollars, or about 40% of my required $2,200 total. keep those donations coming!

welcome to my new 3-day blog!

Jim Purdy of Planners Collaborative - the first to donate! =) ;
Alison Felix of PB;
Dad & Rose;
Vito & Nancy Palombella;
Maggie Campbell Jackson of HSH;
John Thomas of Beals & Thomas;
Linda Lukas, former HSH-er, now with Symmes Maini and McKee;
Anne McKinnon of HSH; and
Dave Wamester of Gale International.

thanks to new donors since last Wednesday, April 2:
my aunt, Tammy Freeman;
Jeff Mazur; and
Brian Paik.

total raised to-date: $746, which is a third of the way to my required amount ($2,200). thanks for all the support.

i got new walking (well, actually, running; but i don't run unless something big and scary is chasing me) sneakers last weekend. i took them on their first training walk today, and they rewarded me with an almost-blister on my right heel. =( i guess 3 miles was too much for the first walk in new shoes.

keep those donations rolling in!
